Marzi Jalilpour..
Marzi was born in Iran, is a race car driver and artist.
Marzi Jalilpour has experienced a great deal of hardship during her lifetime, but these
hardships have only reinforced the strength and faith that serves as her constant source of
inspiration. As a result of her many years of racing experience, Marzi has gained a great
deal of knowledge regarding engines, racing and mechanics, all of which she has applied
while creating her original designs.
A race car driver whose career began with her debut in the 2005 Iran Rally Championship,
Marzi did not have the support or encouragement of her family, instead relying on her own
personal will to succeed in racing. Despite her family’s disinterest in her racing career, Marzi
remains fully committed to the sport and to expressing herself through her racing and
through her unique creations.
Marzi’s interest in automobiles was stirred during childhood, as she can recall staring at her
father’s hands as one grasped the steering wheel and the other worked to shift the gears.
As a young child, her father would often allow her to steer as she sat in his lap; as she grew
a bit older, her desire to drive was so powerful that she frequently stole her father’s car
during his afternoon nap. To Marzi, everything in her life can be traced back to her love of
cars and to her love of racing.
While Marzi has had a number of memorable moments throughout her racing career, there
are others that have been disheartening. In 2010, Marzi was bestowed the honor of
representing Iran in the Peking to Paris Motor Challenge, only to have the mission
eventually canceled with no further explanation.
Though she feels it may seem odd to some, Marzi has always dreamed of having a garage
of her own so that she could devote all of her free time to tuning her cars in preparation for
an upcoming competition. It is out of the respect she feels for cars and car parts that Marzi
feels it necessary to give the disabled and seemingly useless auto parts she finds a new life
and a new chance to be respected through reclamation.
While some may see each piece Marzi selects for her projects as nothing more than just
metal, each holds a different meaning for Marzi and is interesting in its own way. In
reclaiming and restoring these pieces, Marzi feels that she is constructing a narrative that
gives pieces that were once tossed asi de a chance to function in a new and interesting way.
The pieces that Marzi has constructed are all made by hand and reflect her belief that the
God-given talents and abilities we all possess should be consistently utilized and developed.
Marzi has connected all of these components with deep feelings of love and with the goal of
expressing the unique ideas that frequently populate her thoughts.
A natural contrarian, Marzi has made it a goal for each creation to express disparity in some
way. Though her experience in this field is somewhat limited, she has endeavored to
combine her love for cars with her passion for all things unique in her wonderfully original
creations.
Like all of the work she produces, Marzi is truly one of a kind and hopes that her passion is
readily apparent in her work. It would bring her a great deal of joy to know that something
created out of a great deal of love would be of interest to others.
